Assistant Professor
Washington University in St. Louis
St. Louis, Missouri
I am a board-certified pediatrician and pediatric hematologist-oncologist, committed to promoting child health and advancing hematology. I have been a faculty member in the Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology-HCT at Washington University in St. Louis since July 2023. My main clinical and research interests include immune cytopenias, bone marrow failure, and disorders of hemostasis and thrombosis. At St. Louis Children’s Hospital, in collaboration with immunologist-physician-scientist Dr. Megan Cooper, we established the “Immune Cytopenia Clinic” to evaluate and treat immune dysregulation disorders. During my fellowship, with mentors Drs. Jorge Di Paola and Thomas Girard, we studied the roles of tissue factor pathway inhibitor isoforms in the hemophilia mouse model. The second project focused on how the tissue factor pathway contributes to hypercoagulability in the plasma of COVID-19 patients. In clinical/translational research, under the mentorship of transplant physician Dr. Shalini Shenoy, we analyzed the outcomes of radiation-free, reduced-intensity regimen hematopoietic stem cell transplant for pediatric severe aplastic anemia. I serve as the site PI for the North American Pediatric Aplastic Anemia Consortium (NAPAAC) registry, the Pediatric ITP Consortium (ICON), and a phase 3 clinical trial of mavorixafor in patients with chronic neutropenia.
