Dr. Elizabeth Godbey is the Director of Transfusion Medicine, Director of Apheresis, and Associate Director of the Pathology residency program at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Godbey earned her medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, completed her Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University Medical Center, where she also served as Chief Resident, and completed her Transfusion Medicine fellowship at the New York Blood Center and Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Godbey is board certified by The American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, and Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Transfusion, Apheresis, and Cellular Therapy Committee, Chair of the American Society for Apheresis (ASFA) HPC Donor Subcommittee, CAP liaison to the AABB Blood Banks and Transfusion Services Standards Committee, and member of the ASFA Clinical Applications Committee. She is a former member of the CAP Economic Affairs Committee and continues to serve as a subject matter expert for national advocacy efforts related to appropriate reimbursement for Transfusion Medicine services.
