Ward’s background is rich in all aspects of cellular therapy. Over his career he managed Cell Therapy Labs at 3 academic medical centers, started and ran Kansas City’s first Cord Blood Bank, and worked in apheresis operations with the first approved CAR-T product. Being educated and trained as a Medical Technologist, he is also familiar with clinical laboratory practices. He is certified in laboratory management, lean six-sigma, and has earned his CABP. He has served on committees with ISCT/FACT and AABB, and as a volunteer inspector for both organizations. He currently serves as Secretary of the CTSCC, is passionate about cell therapy and loves to share his knowledge with others in the. He currently works with Vitalant as Sr. Quality Director – Biotherapies.
