Ward’s background is rich in all aspects of cellular therapy. Over his career he managed Cell Therapy Labs at 3 academic medical centers, started and ran Kansas City’s first Cord Blood Bank, and worked in pharmaceutical apheresis operations with the first approved CAR-T product. Being educated and trained as a Medical Technologist, he is also familiar with clinical laboratory practices. He is certified in laboratory management, lean six-sigma, and has earned his CABP. He has served on committees with ISCT/FACT and AABB, and as a volunteer inspector for both organizations. He currently serves as Secretary of the CTSCC, as a FACT Inspector, and is passionate about cell therapy. He loves to share his knowledge with others, and currently works with Vitalant as Sr. Quality Director – Biotherapies.
