Susan began her career in blood banking with Vitalant nearly 30 years ago, first working in the laboratory, then spending several years in the quality department before moving into administration. Today, she is Executive Director for Vitalant’s Central Coast operations. Susan has been active in California state level professional organizations for several years and has served on the boards and as President of two California-based professional organizations, Blood Centers of California (BCC) and California Blood Bank Society (CBBS). On a national level, she serves in several capacities for the Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB), currently as Chair of the Blood Bank and Transfusion Services Standards Committee, a member of the Public Policy Strategy Committee and a member of AABB’s Transfusion Medicine Subsection Coordinating Committee. She is an AABB Assessor, has served as a mentor for AABB’s Mentorship Program and is an active participant and presenter for AABB’s Leadership & Administrative and Quality and Regulatory Subsections. Susan is also member of America’s Blood Centers (ABC) Public Policy Committee and the Council of States. She is actively involved in advancing advocacy issues that benefit our industry.
