Jayanna Slayten, MS, MLS(ASCP)SBBcm is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Clinical Laboratory Sciences at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) and serves as the Coordinator of Quality and Analytics for the Indiana University Health Academic Health Center Transfusion Service. She holds a Master of Science in Blood Transfusion Medicine and SBB certification from the University of Cincinnati/Hoxworth Blood Center. Slayten has extensive clinical experience across immunohematology reference laboratories, blood centers, and hospital transfusion services, working as a technologist, supervisor, manager, and quality coordinator. She is active nationally as an AABB and CAP assessor, participates in AABB and CAAHEP/CoA‑SBB committees, and regularly presents at AABB Annual Meetings. In addition to teaching SBB and CLS students, she contributes to exam development and professional education in blood banking and transfusion medicine.
