Dr. Michael Adam Meledeo is a research scientist and Chief of the Blood and Shock Resuscitation Department at the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research and is an adjunct Professor at University of Texas Health San Antonio and University of Texas at San Antonio. His work focuses on improving survival from traumatic hemorrhage through the development and evaluation of blood products, resuscitation strategies, and emerging biologic therapies relevant to combat casualty care. His research spans translational laboratory studies, animal models, and clinical trials aimed at advancing technologies such as whole blood resuscitation, manufactured or modified red blood cells, platelet therapeutics, and next-generation oxygen delivery strategies. Dr. Meledeo collaborates extensively with academic, industry, and government partners to accelerate solutions for both military and civilian trauma systems. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in transfusion medicine and trauma research and serves in leadership and editorial roles within the scientific community. Dr. Meledeo holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University and a doctorate in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
