Chet Voelker is a Research Scientist and Laboratory Manager for the Research Blood Bank at the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research. In this role, Chet supports and conducts research on blood and biotherapies with a mission to optimize combat casualty care. After eight years of Army service, Chet is passionate about serving the military community and continues to support the Department of Defense as a federal employee. Chet authored six scientific papers published in peer-reviewed journals and has given award winning presentations at professional conferences on research involving trauma medicine and molecular diagnostics. Chet always strives to grow professionally and advance his knowledge of the medical laboratory sciences (MLS), leadership, and education. He completed his master’s degree in MLS in 2024 and is now pursuing his Ph.D. in Health Sciences. Chet’s future goals include educating the next generation of MLS professionals and conducting interprofessional research to advance laboratory and military medicine.
