Dr. Lee Anne Sorto, DNP, FNP-C, is the Transfusion Safety Officer for ECU Health Medical Center, supporting a nine-hospital academic health system serving more than 1.4 million people across eastern North Carolina. A board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and healthcare executive, she has more than 20 years of experience in clinical practice, quality improvement, patient safety, healthcare operations, and leadership across rural and urban healthcare settings.

In her current role, Dr. Sorto partners with multidisciplinary teams to advance patient blood management, hemovigilance, transfusion safety, and evidence-based transfusion practices across the health system. Her work has included systemwide implementation of massive hemorrhage protocols, expansion of low-titer group O whole blood programs, blood utilization improvement initiatives, and transfusion safety standardization across multiple hospitals.

Prior to joining ECU Health, Dr. Sorto served in executive leadership positions including Chief Quality Officer, Interim Chief Executive Officer, and healthcare consultant supporting quality, regulatory readiness, and organizational transformation. She is a founding member of the international Transfusion Safety Council and a frequent presenter on transfusion safety, patient blood management, trauma resuscitation, and quality improvement. Dr. Sorto earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from East Carolina University and completed postdoctoral leadership training through Duke University as a Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leadership Program Fellow.
