Laurie Gillard is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Specialist in Blood Bank (SBB) Certificate Program at Rush University in Chicago. She currently chairs the CAAHEP Committee on Accreditation of SBBT/TM programs, is an AABB accreditation assessor, and has been an active member of various ASCP educational committees since 2015.
Laurie’s passion for blood banking and transfusion education has expanded in recent years to Sub-Saharan Africa. In 2019 she began working with the University of Global Health Equity in Rwanda to provide distance education to African students through the Rush SBB program. Currently she is collaborating with UGHE and INES - Ruhengeri Institute of Applied Sciences to assist them in creating their own distance blood banking program.
