Proposed Session Description: The landscape of CAR-T and gene therapy has reached a pivotal junction, shifting from proof-of-concept treatments for rare diseases and specific cancers to a transformative reality for a growing number of patients. Over the past year, the field has been rapidly evolving beyond viral-mediated ex vivo engineering toward more precise in vivo gene editing, personalized CRISPR interventions, and standardized "off-the-shelf" allogeneic CAR-T platforms.
This session will highlight and critically examine the defining breakthroughs in CAR-T and gene therapy over the past year, offering a critical analysis of the clinical and manufacturing milestones shaping the future of this dynamic field. We will delve into the first successful in-body genetic editing for individual mutations, examining the long-term safety and efficacy data from these pioneering trials. The discussion will also explore the significant expansion of CAR-T cell therapies beyond hematologic malignancies into challenging new frontiers like chronic autoimmunity and solid tumors.
